Is it nostalgia or a memory?

Last night, when the temperature hit almost 80, a unusually high temperature for this month in Chicago, memory of something good came to me.

The sun had long set, leaving the world illuminated with its gift. The apartment was as dark as the world was without a full moon. I walked into the kitchen, turned on the light, and proceeded into the still unstirred dining room. That's where some unconscious nostalgia brought up some endorphins in my mind.

I couldn't describe it right away, but it was a scent of upcoming freshness, of new life sprouting from being unfairly long hidden, of promises and hope all mingled with the crisp coolness that hasn't been touched my humidity.

I know this feeling now. It comes to me on those nights when I spend a long day outdoors... of the day I seized without a second thought and having no regrets on my lack of check-marked accomplishments.
